San Diego is one of the most beautiful places to live. You can't beat the near perfect weather, beautiful homes, culture, family lifestyle, 70 miles of stunning coastlines and outdoor activities. There are just too many to name. Whether you are looking for a great family neighborhood, a retirement property, or a sleek condo apartment, San Diego has it all. There are vast arrays of architectural styles to meet every taste, from modern and new construction, to Spanish Revival or Craftsman. There is one in every size, from cute bungalows to grand estates to more rural horse properties with land, country settings to beach settings to downtown urban hip.
Very diverse neighborhoods and communities: There are so many unique little neighborhoods and many large planned development communities with great schools. I help families that I work with find the best school locations based on their budget. Looking for a golf course community? San Diego has several. Beach towns, we have several also, and some are not so quiet! As you can see San Diego is a wide spread city and encompasses many of it's outlying communities. Restaurants are many and diverse as are the many micro-breweries and wineries nearby. Whether you are looking for an active and lively location or a quiet bedroom community, I can steer you in the right direction.
Varying weather: The weather in San Diego is great all year round. The coastal areas are cooler and do get more of the marine layer. Inland counties and communities can be much warmer, especially in the summers by 10-15 degrees. We don't get snow, ever! Except for the rare historical moment when it snowed for about 5 minutes. But we have snow less than a hour's drive away, and skiing in two hours. We have a beautiful bay for water activities and fishing, and many lakes close by.
Traffic: We do have a lot of public transportation and it is still growing, but because San Diego is so spread out, a car is almost a necessity. And with that comes traffic. While it's nowhere near as bad as Los Angeles traffic, you will want to be informed about the traffic before you purchase a home in certain areas.
Costs: So it goes to say that the more outlying areas north, south and east of the city are not as expensive as the coastal areas. Although very expensive homes can be found in almost every area of the county.
Some things I ask my clients to consider when relocating to San Diego are budget (depending on what list you look at San Diego is up there in the top 20 most expensive cities to live in), work location, and children's schools/activities. Secondary items would be taste, lifestyle, transportation, and weather.
Making Offers: Many new laws are currently in effect about Buyer's representation. See my page on New Real Laws and How They Affect You.
